Mary

Mary’s cottage is named in honour of Mary (Molly) Olliver Bollinger, (nee Goudge) who led a life of a True Blue Australian Country Lady. Mary was born in 1904, in Parkes, NSW and lived her life in the area. She was a constant example of kindness, wisdom, humility, grace and love.

Mary’s country life experiences ranged from:- life on the land, running a general store / greengrocery, home schooling her 5 children, cooking, sewing and knitting for family, friends, shearers and community, a valued church member, an energetic Country Women’s Association member, and supporting different family members who worked in the country as a watchmaker, jeweller, gunsmith, optician, fruit picker, nurse, school bus driver, teacher, midwife, council representative, and town mayor.

Mary led an optimistic life of high moral values and the principle of ‘always think of other people before yourself’. She was a symbol of Australian Country goodness and big-heartedness.
